❌SOLD❌ Matchless Avalon 30 Head and Cab

Brand:

Being a guy that is, in a word, spoiled by having amazing amps at my disposal, I’ve always had a soft spot for Matchless amps. I have fond memories of first watching Jimmy Page use the DC30 model and then seeing the Tea Party’s Jeff Martin pummel through a stack of the same model during the Trip Tych tour. Matchless amps have grown since those days and added several models. Many imitators have sprung up and tried to nail the classic Matchless roar, but nothing says Matchless like a Matchless. They are works of electronic art. From the beautiful detailing of the cabs to the immaculate wiring, the amp just exudes class and opulence. The Avalon 30 head is no exception. Coming in a little more affordable than their classic amps, the Avalon 30 packs tons of pro features into a killer head. Crossing the gain of the Independence 35 and the classic roar of the C-30 series amps, the Avalon is able to dial in a chunky distortion that would please any rocker. It almost, dare I say, gets close to a classic Marshall JCM 800 2204 crunch.

The clean is pristine and sparkling. The EQ, though minimal, really works well. Surprisingly, there are a lot of timbres and textures on tap considering that there is no semi-parametric or graphic EQ. It just sounds good without having to cloud the design and vision with extra stuff. It’s just a great sounding amp, period and full stop. For all you tech-heads, the amp puts out a much understated 30 watts that is switchable down to 15 watts and is powered by a quartet of EL84 tubes. The amp is built with versatility, durability, and class in mind. It literally just jumps out of our inventory display. Now if I can only get it to “jump” into my car and get it into my house without my “Minister of Finance” finding out….hmmmmmm
