The Fender American Vintage ’62 Jazz Bass was built from 1999 to 2002. As part of the American Vintage series, this bass reprises the early specifications of the highly influential successor to the revolutionary Precision bass.
1962 Reissue
Built in Germany during 2014, this is a Hofner 500/1 Vintage ’62 Reissue version, sometimes named the ‘Mersey bass’. It’s very close in design to the 1963 version used by Paul McCartney on more than a few successful recordings and appearances. The Hofner 500-1 violin bass is one of the world’s most recognizable basses.

MORE →Here we have a Fender 62 Jazz Bass Reissue from 1994, in the Olympic White finish. This is a Made in USA model featuring early style concentric controls! The 62 Fender Jazz Bass reissue draws closely from the initial 1960 to 1962 Jazz Bass models. The Jazz Bass was Leo Fender’s second distinct bass model after the two iterations of the seminal Precision Bass. Seeking to capture the remaining jazz bassists still using acoustic basses, this model featured a narrower neck for fast playing, and new single coil pickups with a punchier, more focused tone.

His thought was that the narrower neck and brighter pickups would appeal to jazz artists.
