❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Custom Ebony Black, 1988

Designed to express class and quality, the Gibson Les Paul Custom Ebony Black with gold plated appointments appeared in 1954 and has been top of the range since. From introduction until the single-cutaway Les Paul design was dropped in 1961, the Custom lacked the Maple cap the other carved-top models had and was all-Mahogany. When the design was re-introduced in 1968 and to the present day, that changed and the basic construction has been the same as for the other models.

❌SOLD❌ Rickenbacker 360 Jetglo Black Hardware, 1988

❌SOLD❌ Rickenbacker 360 Jetglo Black Hardware, 1988

The Rickenbacker 360 Jetglo finish is a gloss black treatment on a Maple body and neck. The original design for the 300 series guitars builds the body from two sections of Maple. The top cap is given an external shape, then the interior is routed out from the back to create a hollow cavity. After bracing and shaping, a flat Maple back is put on and on some models, the join is bound (there is no binding on the 330). This is why 360 body binding tends to be on the sound holes and back, only.

Guild GSR X180 Archtop Electric Blonde, 2013 (No Longer Available)

Guild GSR X180 Archtop Electric Blonde, 2013 (No Longer Available)

Here’s a wonderful rarity and a natural blonde, a Guild GSR x180 archtop electric with a Spruce laminate top, dating to 2013. GSR stands for Guild Special Run, and this example is number 11 of 20 built. Originally, acoustic archtop guitars used solid, carved Spruce tops paired with solid, Maple for the sides and hand carved back. However, once pickups and amplifiers became more available and standard equipment, it was discovered that the tonal subtleties of the solid Spruce top could be overwhelmed by feedback.

❌SOLD❌ Fender '62 Reissue Jazz Bass Olympic White, 1988

Here we have a Fender ’62 Reissue Jazz Bass in Olympic White and with gold hardware and original style concentric controls, built during 1988 in Corona, California. Introduced in 1960, Leo Fender’s Jazz Bass sought to win over the bass players who hadn’t yet adopted his Precision Bass and still played upright acoustic instruments. His thought was that the narrower neck and brighter pickups would appeal to jazz artists.

❌SOLD❌ Guild X170 Archtop Electric Blonde, 1988

❌SOLD❌ Guild X170 Archtop Electric Blonde, 1988

The Guild X170, also called the ‘Mini Manhattan’ was built from 1985 until 2002 as a fully hollow electric archtop with laminated Maple body, Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard. Here we’re looking at a Guild X170 dating to late 1988 and built in Westerly, Rhode Island. It’s in very good clean condition with very little wear of any kind. The clear, natural finish is in great shape and nicely shows off the light figuring of the Maple top, back and sides. The neck uses a five-piece construction with three Maple sections separated by two thin Walnut layers.
