The National RM1 Maple Walnut Resophonic Mandolin is built in San Luis Opisbo California and features a teardrop, almost ‘A Style’ body shape, but with a single 9.5 inch resonator cone. Here is a Wes Lambe A-Style Mandolin, #26 in Sunburst and built during 2005 in Chapel Hill NC before Lambe’s move to Hillsborough NC. Wes Lambe has been building professionally since at least 1997 and his instruments are highly respected – and hard to get. At the moment, he has closed his order book to deal with existing orders.
The Breedlove Quartz OF is an A-Style mandolin, the ‘O’ indicating an Oval body and the F, F Holes. Like other Breedlove mandolins, it has been out of production since 2016. ‘Quartz’ is the term Breedlove assigned to their entry-level US built mandolins. That name is possibly a reference to a mountain not far from the Breedlove shop, then located in Tumalo, Oregon.
