Once again we have a locally sourced Ian Pattison Whyte Laydie style open back banjo in Black Walnut from Pattison Stringed Instruments in Guelph, Ontario. The original Whyte Laydie banjos were made by A C Fairbanks starting around 1901 and ending in 1904 when the Fairbanks shop was destroyed in a fire, and the Vega company took over production. This lovely Pattison Whyte Laydie banjo features a Whyte Laydie tone ring by Rickert from Aurora, Ontario and a Renaissance head.

❌SOLD❌ Suhr Modern Custom Claro Walnut HSH, 2015

This lovely Suhr Modern Custom sports a Claro Walnut top on a Spanish Cedar body, paired with a Pau Ferro neck and Macassar Ebony fingerboard! Claro Walnut is also known as ‘California Black Walnut’. Spanish Cedar or ‘Cedro’ is very commonly used for classical guitar necks, and for bodies on Suhr guitars. A quirk of the Suhr process is that the serial number is established at time of order, sometimes well before the instrument construction is begun, let alone finished. While these numbers are consecutive, that doesn’t always match the sequence pieces are completed so dating via serial number is tougher.

NO LONGER AVAILABLE!!! Huber VRB4 Truetone Walnut 5 String Banjo, 2014

Here we have a very good condition Huber VRB4 TrueTone Walnut 5-string banjo, with a highly figured Burl Walnut resonator and Rosewood fingerboard. Based on classic 1930s, pre-WW2 banjo designs, the Huber VRB4 delivers great tone and looks with modern reliability. It features walnut construction, a HR-30 tone ring and Huber Engineered rim. Walnut is a traditional material for banjos and guitars, and was commonly found until the late 1930s when Mahogany and Maple displaced it.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson HP415 CEX Cutaway Walnut Body Steel String, 2017

Part of the High Performance series introduced for the 2017 model year and currently out of production, the Gibson HP 415 CEX pairs a Sitka Spruce top and Black Walnut for the sides, back, rectangular bridge and fingerboard. The neck is Maple, and the body blocks are Mahogany. As stock, this model carried an L R Baggs Element pickup system, with the controls tucked under the bass edge of the sound hole.

❌SOLD❌ Lawrence Nyberg Cittern Black Walnut and Redwood, 2018

This lovely Lawrence Nyberg Cittern pairs a Redwood top and Black Walnut for the sides, back, and back strap (an extra layer on the back of the head). The neck is Mahogany, with Ebony used for the fingerboard and its binding, bridge, and the head plate. A K&K pickup is installed and connected to and end pin jack. Unusually for an instrument of this type, a steel string guitar-style ebony pin bridge is used rather than a floating bridge with an additional tailpiece.
