Here is a Fender ‘Blackie’ Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster which was built during 2008 and is in great original condition. This model, introduced in 2004 and built by a team (as distinct from one master builder) features an Alder body and soft-V 22-fret, 9.5 inch radius Maple neck, with a Custom Shop logo and Clapton signature above ‘Blackie’ on the back of the head.
Blackie
This is a real treat! One of only 275 built during 2006, here is a Fender EC Blackie Tribute Custom Shop Stratocaster, complete with Duck Bros flight case, Certificate of Authenticity and all of the related materials. The Fender EC Blackie is based very closely on Clapton’s original ‘Blackie’, itself pieced together by Clapton from three 1950’s Strats. That guitar was ultimately sold at auction to Guitar Center by Christie’s on June 24, 2004, in support of Crossroads Center Antigua, the addiction recovery center Clapton helped found in 1998.

MORE →The Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster is based on ‘Blackie’, the 1950s Stratocaster used by Clapton for a lot of his post-Cream work. That particular guitar is put together from a 1956 body and 1957 neck, with some 50’s pickups and one 1970’s. The Blackie version body is Alder with a gloss black urethane finish, and the neck is a quite comfortable 1957 style soft V shape. The frets are thankfully a somewhat taller Vintage style. For electronics, a set of Vintage Noiseless single coil strat pickups is used.
