SOLD!!! Gold Tone WL-250 Whyte Laydie 5-String Openback Banjo

The Gold Tone WL-250 Whyte Laydie produces the plunky yet focused tone that’s long been a standard for Old Time and folk music. This banjo features an accurate replica of the classic three-piece Whyte Laydie tone ring, mated with a half-inch maple rim for maximum air chamber volume. The maple neck has a vintage heel design, a Fairbanks-style headstock shape, GT Master planetary tuners. Stylized cloud inlays adorn the bound ebony fretboard which terminates in a frailing scoop. The eleven-inch pot carries a Remo Renaissance head, a No-Knot tailpiece and dual coordinator rods for a solid neck fit and easy adjustments.

❌ SOLD ❌ Gibson TB-250 Tenor Banjo, 1966

For quite some time, Gibson banjos were standard professional grade instruments, and the Gibson TB-250 was their ‘entry level’ tenor banjo. From 1966 it was available as a MasterTone model with that tone ring. This model was built from 1954 to 1996.

SOLD!!! Beard Deco Phonic Model 27 Resophonic Guitar Sunburst

SOLD!!! Beard Deco Phonic Model 27 Resophonic Guitar Sunburst

New from Paul Beard Guitars in Hagerstown Maryland, the Beard Deco Phonic Model 27 square neck evokes the Art Deco stylings of the late 1920s when resophonic guitars were introduced. Using a classic single-resonator design, the Model 27 uses Finnish Birch laminates for the body, solid maple for the neck, and Morado (also called Pau Ferro) for the 25 inch scale fingerboard, and ebony / maple bridge inserts. On the Model 27, the top is bound. These wood choices make the guitar completely CITIES compliant.

❌ SOLD ❌ Second Life MasterClone Banjo 2014

❌ SOLD ❌ Second Life MasterClone Banjo 2014

Banjo-maker Carl Arcand routinely restores older banjos to give them a ‘second life’ from his Eastern Townships shop in Ulverton, Quebec. This fine example Second Life MasterClone Banjo is still archived on his site. This instrument is assumed to be based on a 60s or 70s Gibson TB-250 ‘donor-banjo’ pot with flathead bronze tone ring and fitted to an Arcand handmade replica neck. The resurrection work was completed and the banjo first sold in 2014. This Second Life MasterClone Banjo is certainly equal or superior to any 70’s original Gibson. It is what we would call a RB-250 Mastertone “clone” banjo or “Master-Clone” banjo.

❌ Sold❌ Eastman MD615 F-Style Mandolin Sunburst, 2010

❌ Sold❌ Eastman MD615 F-Style Mandolin Sunburst, 2010

This Eastman MD615 F-Style mandolin dates to 2010 based on its serial number, and is in very clean condition. The top is carved Spruce, and the back is carved Flame Maple. The sides and neck are also Flame Maple, and the bound fingerboard is Ebony. The bridge and head plate are also Ebony. It has a few small chips around the edges, particularly at the top end of the headstock – this is a vulnerable spot for this type of head. For the most part the finish is very clean and unmarked.

❌NO LONGER AVAILABLE ❌ Gibson RB-18 Mastertone Top Tension 5-String Banjo Sunburst, 1996

❌NO LONGER AVAILABLE ❌ Gibson RB-18 Mastertone Top Tension 5-String Banjo Sunburst, 1996

Here we’re looking at a wonderfully preserved Gibson RB-18 Mastertone ‘Top Tension’ 5-string banjo, with its gold plating unworn and the finish lightly checked from age. From the serial number, it appears to have been produced during June of 1996. The number breaks down as ‘RB’ for Regular Banjo – i.e. 5-string – ’18’ for the style, followed by two digits for the year (96) and two for the month (06). The last group of digits, a single number 7 in this case, is the production number for that model in that date period.
