Collings I35DLXS Thinline Custom Single Pickup Cherry, 2008

Collings I35DLXS Thinline Custom Single Pickup Cherry, 2008

Here’s a real beauty – a Collings I35DLXS Thinline Custom with a carved, solid Flame Maple top and single Lollar Imperial pickup in the neck position. This  wonderful example was originally custom ordered through The Twelfth Fret during 2008, and has been used professionally. An interesting note about its use and condition is that  it’s really only been used in a seated position. Collings supplied a pair of strap pins, which are in the Ameritage case, but as part of the custom order did not drill holes for them or install them.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES350T Short Scale Archtop Electric Sunburst, 1956

The thin-bodied, short scale Gibson ES350T appeared in 1955, replacing the full size ES-350 and was much like a plainer version of the Venetian-cutaway Byrdland, which also debuted that year. When launched, the fully hollow ES-350T featured laminate Maple construction largely for feedback resistance and lower production cost, but a number of versions shared the Byrdland’s Spruce top and carved Maple back and sides.

Monteleone Grand Artist Mandolin Sunburst, 1985

Monteleone Grand Artist Mandolin Sunburst, 1985

Here is a rare and wonderful instrument – a Monteleone Grand Artist mandolin, built during 1985. John Monteleone is one of the world’s finest builders of arched top guitars and mandolins.  This mandolin was built at Monteleone’s shop in Bayshore, New York.  Though it draws from the Lloyd Loar era F-5, the Monteleone Grand Artist mandolin is not a copy, but a re-imagining of the design. It is more in line with what John D’Angelico would produce, showing Art Deco influences. And unlike the F-5, the scroll is hollow, rather than a carved block.

The Guild X150 Savoy is a single cutaway carved Spruce top guitar, built from 1954 to 1965 in single and dual pickup (X150D) models and natural or sunburst finishes.  Currently, the new Guild Guitar company under Ren Ferguson – who ran the Gibson Acoustic shop in Bozeman –  offers the Guild A-150 Savoy model, with a neck-mount deArmond pickup.  Guild’s origins spring from the Epiphone company’s labour troubles following the death of founder Epi Stathopoulos in 1943.
