The Collings CJ is a take on the classic ‘Gibson style’ slope-shouldered dreadnought guitar, one of the two most successful large-body designs – the other being the ‘Martin style’ square shoulder. These two designs both date to the early ears of the 20th century, with the guitars Martin built for the Ditson company from around 1916.

The Collings CJ GSB is a fantastic instrument, taking cues from classic slope-shouldered dreadnought models and far surpassing them in build and materials quality. The CJ stands for “Collings Jumbo” while the “GSB” means that this guitar has both a German Spruce top and a Sunburst finish, two of the basic options for this model.

The Collings CJ35 GSB is a spectacular guitar, evoking the looks feel and tone of generally unavailable vintage pieces – but with very high build and finish quality. This 2013 example is in great condition with very little wear of any kind, and is sold with its original Collings branded hard shell case. The Collings CJ35 is normally built with a Sitka Spruce top, but here as noted in the ‘GSB’ part of the name, German Spruce was chosen for the top, and there’s a traditional dark Sunburst finish.

This is a brand new Collings CJ-35, this one a GSB – sporting a German Spruce top and Sunburst finish! Collings guitars are among the finest available anywhere. The Collings CJ-35 elevates the classic slope-shoulder dreadnought design, pairing a Spruce top with Mahogany for the sides, back and neck, to its apex. These are wonderful instruments, with the best materials available and impeccable build and finish quality.
