Guild X79 Skyhawk White, 1984

Here we have a fairly rare bird – the Guild X79 Skyhawk in white, produced in Westerly Rhode Island from 1981 to 1986, this one dating to 1984. The construction of this model is simple – the body and set neck are Mahogany, with an un-bound, 24-fret Ebony fingerboard. Those last few frets were very rare at the time!

Taylor 514ce-N Crossover Cutaway Natural, 2012

The Taylor 514ce-N, now discontinued, was a ‘crossover’ instrument, aimed at delivering the tone and touch response of nylon strings to the steel string player. Typically, crossover guitars have a cutaway body, narrower crowned fingerboards, pickup and preamp systems, and lower action than concert-style classical models. Some models have ‘thinline’ bodies as the volume produced by the body is exceeded by a supporting sound system.

Martin D-18 Dreadnought Figured Natural, 2019

The Martin D-18 Dreadnought is one of the truly iconic guitars and its popularity has also made it one of the most copied. Originally designed to compete with instruments like banjos on unamplified bandstands, its somewhat bass-biased tone makes it ideal as a rhythm instrument, while the Mahogany back and sides add high end sparkle for fingerstyle.

Taylor 610e Maple Dreadnought, Brown Sugar, 2015

The Taylor 610e starts with a classic Dreadnought body design, but uses Maple for the sides, back and neck. This model was built from 1998 to 2017, and discontinued as the 2018 V-Class instruments were introduced. This Taylor 610e dates to the September 01, 2015 and is in very good, clean and original condition.

The Larrivee L30 Classical Guitar Natural, now discontinued, is a straightforward Spruce and Rosewood classical guitar showing Jean Larrivee’s background in this genre. When learning guitar building, Larrivee spent a good amount of time with Edgar Monch during Monch’s time in Toronto, and learned much about guitar construction from him.
