❌SOLD❌ Yamaha SA 1200S Super Axe Sunburst, 1980

❌SOLD❌ Yamaha SA 1200S Super Axe Sunburst, 1980

Here we have an original condition Yamaha SA 1200S, built during 1980 at Yamaha’s shops in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The Super Axe line had been built for fourteen years, and over time came to have a body shape more like a Gibson ES 3xx model. The headstocks were unique to Yamaha, and there was no risk of infringing on Gibson’s models. These were high quality instruments, with varying levels of decoration.   After 1984, SA production was moved to Taiwan.

❌SOLD❌ G&L ASAT Solidbody Electric Sunburst, 2002

❌SOLD❌ G&L ASAT Solidbody Electric Sunburst, 2002

Taking very clear cues from the classic and proven 1950’s designs, the G&L ASAT looks like an ‘improved’ Telecaster. Notably, the ‘Hard Tail’ bridge addresses a number of vibration issues by adding a set screw to the treble side of the bridge housing. This set screw pushes against the saddles, so that once the saddles are properly adjusted, they lock in place. As well, the larger single coil ‘MFD’ or ‘Modified Field Design’ pickups are Leo’s design, combing ceramic under-coil magnets with soft iron adjustable magnets for each string.

❌SOLD❌ Ernie Ball Music Man Luke II, Luke Blue, 2012

❌SOLD❌ Ernie Ball Music Man Luke II, Luke Blue, 2012

Here we have a very clean, all original Ernie Ball Music Man Luke II in ‘Luke Blue’ finish – a light pearlescent blue, tending towards grey. This guitar dates to October 2, 2012 with a build code of 915 15 20 00 CS CR, and comes from the Ernie Ball Music Man shop in San Luis Obispo. Aside from its all round good looks, comfortable design, this is a very versatile guitar. It pairs an Alder body with a Maple neck and Indian Rosewood twelve inch radius fingerboard – and that’s it for the wood choices!

❌SOLD❌ Fender Jazz Bass 1975 Reissue Natural, 2001

❌SOLD❌ Fender Jazz Bass 1975 Reissue Natural, 2001

The Fender Jazz Bass used the same proven Fender construction, with an Alder or Ash body and bolt on Maple neck. At 1960, Fender was learning how to add Rosewood fingerboards to their necks, and this was partly to win Gibson players over. The Jazz Bass had the new ‘offset’ body style, and a pair of single coil pickups. The earliest models used two concentric pots, each controlling volume and tone for one pickup. This soon gave way to the modern layout, of two volumes and one master tone control.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES125 D Sunburst, 1957

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES125 D Sunburst, 1957

Here is a rarity, built only during 1957 and in a quantity of less than 30. While the base model is common, the two pickup Gibson ES125 D is not. Introduced in 1946 as the effects of WW2 wound down, demand rose and materials became available again, the Gibson ES-125 was intended as a student model but has been used by many professionals over the decades. The ES-125 line was discontinued in 1970, though after 1960 or so most of the related models had the ‘T’ or Thinline body that was introduced in 1956.
