Here we have the brand-new Fintan McEnroe FinMc MC16 F-style mandolin from Fintan McEnroe, working in Toronto but originally from Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan, Ireland. The ‘16’ in the name refers to the mandolin serial number and production sequence. This fine instrument was very recently finished, in January of 2023.
F-style
Make no mistake about it, the Kentucky KM-1000 Master Model mandolin is a serious contender in the professional mandolin field, with all solid wood construction, true carved, graduated American Red (Adirondack) spruce top with tone bars, true carved graduated Northern Michigan maple back and sides, Loar style bridge, engraved tailpiece, inlaid peghead, thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish and precision Gotoh 14:1 reverse tuners!
The Weber Gallatin F-Style delivers punch, clarity and playability in a visually stripped down package. The core materials and build quality are all there, but it’s not so decorated. The Weber Gallatin F style mandolin features a Sitka spruce top with figured maple for the back, sides and neck, and ebony for the fingerboard and bridge. The body and neck are not bound.

MORE →Eastman MD515 mandolins are a high quality yet reasonably priced rendering of the classic Gibson F-style instruments introduced in the 1920s during Lloyd Loar’s tenure at Gibson. One of Orville Gibson’s radical innovations was to bring violin family construction principles into the world of guitars and mandolins, leading directly to the arched top instruments that are commonplace today. The Eastman MD515 models are part of Eastman’s entry level instrument lines, but that doesn’t mean that they have skimped on quality, just on decoration.
