Built during 1997 at Newtonwards, Northern Ireland, this Lowden S12 pairs a Sitka Spruce top with Mahogany for the sides, back and neck. Overall this Lowden S12 is in good condition with light play wear. At some point, the pinless bridge was professionally re-glued. It plays nicely, and is responsive having a well developed voice with plenty of volume and projection.

Here’s a lovely Lowden F25c with Cedar and Indian Rosewood built during 2002 at the now-closed Lowden Guitars work shop in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. The F25c is part of Lowden’s Original Series. Lowden Guitars began in 1974 with George Lowden reaching the decision to build professionally. Opening a shop in Groomsport, County Down, Northern Ireland. Orders grew and in 1980 his Swiss distributors sparked a five-year contract to have Lowden guitars built under license by dedicated workers at S. Yairi in Japan as a way of making these models more available.

MORE →This Lowden L25 is in good working order, and dates to 1989 at the shop in Bangor, County Down. It is built using a Red Cedar top paired with Indian Rosewood for the rather deep sides, back, neck stiffeners, head plate and bridge, with Mahogany for the neck and Ebony for the unbound fingerboard. The bridge is a pinless design, with the strings loading through the back edge of the bridge. Tuners are gold plated, with Lowden logos and faux pearloid buttons.

There is another model in the Jazz series, the S32J, and the primary difference is that Alpine Spruce is used for the top instead of Cedar. Both models are available with a number of optional woods for the back and sides.
