Here we’re looking at a very good condition, early-example Fender 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster Sunburst, built during January 2014. Built to mark the 1954 introduction of the Stratocaster, this model is based on the American Standard platform but with a number of upgrades and a limited production run of 1,954 guitars.

The Gibson Super 400 strode above most others when giant archtops roamed the earth, and is still one of the largest production guitars made. Making its introduction in 1934 as the ‘Super L-5 Deluxe’, the non-cutaway model was quickly joined by a cutaway model, initially named the Super 400 P for ‘Premiere’. The ‘400’ designation was originally a reference to the price.

This Vicente Carrillo Pasion Flamenco Negra model, was built during 2014 in Casasimarro, Cuenca Spain where his family has built since 1744; Vicente is the seventh generation. Casasimarro is roughly between Madrid and Valencia, about 220km southeast of Madrid. Vicente Carrillo has been building instruments all his working life.

This example was built during 1977 at the Fender plant in Fullerton, California. It was refinished some time in the past, with a clear satin over the neck and white for the body.

Here is a rare thing of beauty – a Linda Manzer Custom Cutaway from 1980, wearing a lovely Alphonse Mucha – inspired engraved headstock inlay. Linda Manzer has been building since the mid 1970’s, training with Jean Larrivee from 1974 to 1978 and in 1984 learning archtop construction from the late James D’Acquisto in New York City. Her spectacular and varied instruments have been used by many top players including Pat Metheney, Bruce Cockburn, and Julian Lage.
