Hammertone Deluxe Mandotar Prototype Sunburst, 1990s

The Hammertone Deluxe Mandotar is a very interesting instrument. Built in George Furlanetto’s FBass workshop in Hamilton, Ontario and drawing from the 1964 – 1968 Vox Mando Guitar or Octave 12, these are like a solidbody electric 12 string with a capo at the octave fret. The size and layout is much like a mandolin.

This Jerry Farrell Classical guitar, No.57, starts with the Hauser style and a traditional Spanish construction pattern, with a Red Cedar top and Indian Rosewood for the sides, back, and bridge. The neck is Cedrilla or Spanish Cedar as used on many Spanish built classical and flamenco guitars, and the slightly crowned fingerboard is Ebony.

This 2016 Lounsbury Concert Cutaway comes from Chris Lounsbury’s workshop in Hamilton, Ontario and features Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood construction, and has a soundport on the bass side. Chris Lounsbury has been building professionally for about twelve years, taking training from the well regarded courses run by Sergei de Jonge in Chelsea, Quebec.

This Jerry Farrell Maple Classical guitar follows a traditional Spanish construction pattern, but with a lovely Curly Maple set for the sides and back in place of Rosewood, and an Engelmann Spruce top. The neck appears to be Cedrilla or Spanish Cedar as used on traditional classicals, and with what looks like Pau Ferro for the fingerboard and bridge.

Here is a very interesting Gerald Farrell 630mm Classical Guitar, built during 2012 at Jerry Farrell’s shop in Hamilton, Ontario where he has constructed classical guitars since 1972. Based on the proven, traditional Hauser design, this Gerald Farrell 630mm Classical features a Spruce top with Indian Rosewood for the sides and back, with Central American Mahogany for the body blocks and neck.

This F Bass Fretless bass uses three woods – Flamed Maple for the neck, Poplar for the wings, and African Blackwood for the fingerboard. It uses a neck-through construction. For hardware, Schaller tuners are at the head, and a Leo Quan Badass bridge with a riser. Electronics are passive and consist of a Aguilar AG4J-HC pickup in the bridge position, paired with a Hi-A (High-Asymmetry) pickup in the neck position. This bass originally shipped with a Seymour Duncan Jazz pickup in the bridge position.
