This Jerry Farrell Maple Classical guitar follows a traditional Spanish construction pattern, but with a lovely Curly Maple set for the sides and back in place of Rosewood, and an Engelmann Spruce top. The neck appears to be Cedrilla or Spanish Cedar as used on traditional classicals, and with what looks like Pau Ferro for the fingerboard and bridge.

Next is a very nice Marc Beneteau Flamenco guitar with Cedar top and Cypress back and sides, built in the Beneteau shop in St. Thomas Ontario during 1999. Built in a modern style, this Beneteau Flamenco model uses a Cedar top paired with Cypress for the sides and back. The neck is Flamed Mahogany and uses a bolt construction rather than the traditional Spanish ‘Slipper Heel’ design.
Here is a very interesting Gerald Farrell 630mm Classical Guitar, built during 2012 at Jerry Farrell’s shop in Hamilton, Ontario where he has constructed classical guitars since 1972. Based on the proven, traditional Hauser design, this Gerald Farrell 630mm Classical features a Spruce top with Indian Rosewood for the sides and back, with Central American Mahogany for the body blocks and neck.

MORE →Here we have a Hans Schmidt Classical Guitar, built in Rock Creek BC during the 1980s and featuring a lovely Brazilian Rosewood set for the sides, back and head plate. While there isn’t a lot of information available, Hans Schmidt apparently built classical guitars and Celtic Harps during the 1980s and 1990s in his workshops in the southern central area of British Columbia, at the lower end of the Okanagan Valley, not far from the Canadian border. This is a spectacular area!
