Crafted for Fender Japan, this Fender Antigua Stratocaster dates to 2002-2004 and was built by Tokai Gakki in Hammamatsum. It is one of about 400 built. The heel carries the serial number and the ‘Crafted in Japan’ logo, and these reveal the builder. When CBS sold Fender Management the company, the deal did not include plant or fixtures, leaving Fender with no US production facilities.

Here is an unusual guitar – a Gibson Golden Axe Explorer, built during 2013 at the Gibson Nashville plant and sporting a pair of LACE™ Nitro Hemi humbucker pickups! Originally built for Bill Kelliher of Mastodon, the Gibson Golden Axe Explorer is based on the classic Explorer design. The body is solid Mahogany, with a Mahogany neck topped with a Rosewood fingerboard. Unlike typical Explorer models, the body and neck are both bound.

MORE →This Fender Mustang guitar is in good playing condition and sounds great. The original grey hard shell case is included, with some graffiti it has acquired over the years. The Mustang features a trem system using a rocking bridge and elevated string bar tailpiece, the springs being located under the chrome bridge plate. Overall, this design shares several elements of the Jazzmaster / Jaguar trem bridge.

MORE →The Lado Falcon is a quintessential 1980’s guitar, pairing sustain and clarity with visual effects and playability. These guitars, like those from BC Rich and other builders, provided serious alternatives to Fender and Gibson models. The Lado Guitar Company was founded by Joseph Kovacic and for many years was based at 920 Kingston Road in Toronto. The next tenant was the brand-new Guitarists’ Pro Shop run by Grant MacNeill and Dan Charman named The Twelfth Fret. Lado moved to larger quarters in Scarborough, and in 1981 to a much larger facility in Uxbridge, Ontario, about 74 kilometers north of Toronto.
