❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES350 Electric Archtop Sunburst 1951

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES350 Electric Archtop Sunburst 1951

Here’s a real beauty – a Gibson ES350 Electric Archtop built during 1951 at the historic Parsons Street shop in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The ES-350 was built from 1947 to 1956, and for 1957 received a thinner body and new name – the ES-350T, the T standing for Thinline.   This model was played extensively by top artists like Barney Kessel, Chuck Berry, B B King and Tal Farlow. At its 1947 introduction, the Gibson ES350 was named the ‘ES-350 Premiere’ and was a full body, single cutaway archtop with a single P-90 pickup in the neck position. For 1949, it received a second pickup. Construction was typical of Gibson’s electric archtop production, with Laminate Maple for the top, sides and back, part of an attempt to reduce feedback at stage volumes.

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Tennessee Rose G6119FT Thin Body Archtop Walnut, 2006

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Tennessee Rose G6119FT Thin Body Archtop Walnut, 2006

Based on the 1962 Chet Atkins Tennessean, the Gretsch Tennessee Rose G6119 was introduced in 1995, but wasn’t a ‘Chet Atkins’ model until 2007 when Gretsch re-acquired rights to the Atkins name. Consequently, the pickguard on this example has only the words ‘Tennessee Rose’ and the Gretsch logo. The 6119 Tennessean appeared in 1958 as a full size, single pickup archtop. In 1962, it was drastically revised with a new, thin body using the sealed ‘ElectroTone’ concept for feedback resistance. This design has faux F-holes, either painted or decals. It bore a pair of either Filter ‘Tron or HiLo ‘Tron pickups and the model was discontinued in 1980. Gretsch, then owned by Baldwin, folded in 1983 with Baldwin’s bankruptcy.

❌SOLD❌ Hofner Model 182E2 Solid Bass Red Tolex, 1963

❌SOLD❌ Hofner Model 182E2 Solid Bass Red Tolex, 1963

The Hofner Model 182E2 or ‘Solid Bass’ when sold by Selmer, was built at Bubenreuth Bavaria from 1962 to 1985, and was also available in a single pickup ‘E1’ model. While Hofner is best known worldwide for the Model 5000/1 violin shaped ‘Beatle Bass’ used by Paul McCartney, they also made many solidbody guitars and basses. The Hofner Model 182E2 uses many of the same components as its more famous cousin, including the pickups, electronics package and ‘Teacup’ control knobs. The scale length is 30 inches or 762mm, the same as the Beatle Bass models.

The Duesenberg Fullerton TV is a very well built compact body, double cutaway thinline archtop with custom pickups and a great vibrato tailpiece. Here we’re looking at a Duesenberg Fullerton TV dated on its label to 25 Mai 2011, and coming from Germany. This example is in good clean condition, with some light tarnish to the nickel plating but very little wear otherwise. Fret and finish wear are very light.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES135 Cutaway Thinline Archtop Sunburst, 1996

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES135 Cutaway Thinline Archtop Sunburst, 1996

The single cutaway, thinline Gibson ES135, built from 1991 to 2004 started out as a quite different guitar – the 1954 ES-130 non-cutaway archtop electric, renamed the ES-135 in 1956 and discontinued in 1958.  For 1991, Gibson blended the ES-334 concept with the ES-175 body shape and added a pair of P-90 or humbucking pickups  and either a trapeze or stop tailpiece.  The model was discontinued in 2004. The Gibson ES135 shares many construction features with other ES (Electric Spanish) thinline models.
