MORE →This is a treat – a Collings I35 LC Deluxe thinline archtop electric in a traditional sunburst, one of the best renderings of this concept available. This model draws from the iconic and once revolutionary Gibson ES-335 series, with a Maple laminate body around a Maple center block, and Mahogany neck with Indian Rosewood fingerboard. It’s wired using a 1950’s style layout, with a pair of Lollar Imperial Low-Wind humbuckers. This Collings I35 LC Deluxe example was built during 2015 at the Collings shop in Austin, Texas. It is in all original, very good condition. While it’s been played, wear is light.

MORE →The Collings 290 DC Custom is, as the name suggests, a custom version of the Collings DC – conceptually similar to the late 1950s Les Paul Special but with humbucking pickups and comfort contours. We can’t recall seeing a Collings guitar that didn’t impress us. This example is no exception. Collings finishes are among the best nitrocellulose lacquer finishes we see – they have definitely mastered this art.

MORE →Hey, somebody has to be at the top of the heap … numero uno … the cream of the crop. Once again Bill Collings has taken a time-tested guitar design and refined it to the point of perfection. Most players, including myself, thought that the double cutaway thinline semi-hollow electric guitar had evolved as far as it was going to ever go, until this Texas guitar builder took it to the finish line with his I-35 Deluxe!
