The Manuel Rodriguez e Hijos line comes from celebrated Spanish builder Manuel Rodriguez, as affordable quality production models. These guitars, now discontinued, were built in a larger Rodriguez-owned shop in Esquivias, about 45 minutes south of Madrid.
Madagascar
Drawing from the iconic and sought after pre-war Dreadnoughts, the Bourgeois Signature D Madagascar serves up a rich combination of tone, presence and volume. Madagascar Rosewood is considered a visual and tonal equivalent to Brazilian Rosewood, though with a bit less orange to the colour. On this Bourgeois Signature D, it’s paired with Adirondack Spruce, as used on most of the best pre-WW2 steel string guitars.

MORE →Built in Berthier-sur-Mer Quebec, the Boucher BG152 is a rich, lively and loud dreadnought from the Boucher Bluegrass Goose series of guitars. This impressive dreadnought pairs an AAAA Adirondack Red Spruce top personally selected by Robin Boucher with a lovely set of Madagascar Rosewood. Red Spruce has a high ceiling for tone production which means you can drive a lot of energy with a flat pick or your fingers to produce lots of volume and tone.
The C. F. Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 is a re-creation of an iconic instrument, the pre-WW2 Martin D-28. Production of these guitars was disrupted by the onset of war, and changes in supply chains rippled through post war production. This example was built during 2014 in Nazareth, Pennsylvania pairing an Adirondack Spruce top with Madagascar Rosewood for the back, sides and headplate, Mahogany for the neck, and Ebony for the bridge and unbound fingerboard.
