Here is a brand spankin’ new Collings OM2H ESS – an Orchestra Model with Engelmann Spruce top, 24.875 inch Short Scale guitar. Based on the classic Orchestra Model design developed at the end of the 1920s and in the Martin catalog for 1930, the Collings OM2H ESS is pretty much as good as it gets. Collings quality is consistently very high, from wood selection to nitrocellulose lacquer finish, setup and everything in between. These are some of the finest instruments available anywhere.
Mahogany
The Collings OM1ESS is based on the traditional OM – Orchestra Model body design, but with an Engelmann Spruce top and a 24.9 inch (632mm) scale length. The OM body has been favored by performing fingerstylists since its introduction by Martin in 1930 as a 14-fret adaptation of the 12-fret OOO models. Collings builds some of the finest instruments available, and this Collings OM1ESS, built during 2019 in Austin Texas is an excellent example of their work.

MORE →This JC Dorval B Bender T Style guitar was built in 2000 in Quebec, Canada and features a Parsons-White B Bender with the Long Stroke option! We don’t have much information about the builder of this JC Dorval B Bender Tele-style guitar, but it would have been shipped to Gene Parsons for installation of the B-Bender mechanism – the installation is somewhat complex. The body appears to use an Ash core, with Zebrawood for the top and back. The neck is Maple, five pieces lengthwise plus a separate Maple fingerboard, allowing the truss rod to be mounted from the ‘front’ of the neck.

MORE →Here’s a Gibson Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst dating to October 17, 1980, sporting a Cherry Sunburst finish and a non-weight relieved, non-pancake body! The Les Paul model was introduced in 1952 as Gibson’s entry into the then-new soldibody ‘Spanish’ electric guitar field, where ‘Spanish’ refers to the way the guitar is held. Solidbody Hawaiian models had been available for some time, and Gibson had been producing electrified archtop guitars since the 1936 ES-150.
The Collings CJ35 GSB is a spectacular guitar, evoking the looks feel and tone of generally unavailable vintage pieces – but with very high build and finish quality. This 2013 example is in great condition with very little wear of any kind, and is sold with its original Collings branded hard shell case. The Collings CJ35 is normally built with a Sitka Spruce top, but here as noted in the ‘GSB’ part of the name, German Spruce was chosen for the top, and there’s a traditional dark Sunburst finish.

MORE →This is a beautiful Martin 000-42 Standard Series, a spectacular sounding instrument with just the right amount of inlay. The 000 body size was introduced in 1902 with a 12-fret, 24.9 inch scale length neck and in 1934 gained the ‘new’ 14-fret neck. The OM or Orchestra Model is based on this guitar, but with a 14-fret, 25.4 inch scale length neck. The ’42’ in the name refers to the Style 42 materials and inlay set, introduced in 1858, and discontinued in 1943.
