❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Standard Amber Burst, 2005

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Standard Amber Burst, 2005

Originally produced for only the years 1958 to 1960, the Gibson Les Paul Standard overcame its lack of commercial success and became one of the influential guitars ever. The Les Paul Standard appeared in 1958 as a ‘new’ version of the Les Paul model and carried Gibson’s new hum-bucking pickups designed by Seth Lover, and was adorned with a sunburst finish showing off what was normally a nicely figured Maple cap.

Gibson Custom Le Grande Archtop Electric Natural, 2008

Gibson Custom Le Grande Archtop Electric Natural, 2008

Here is a rare beauty – a Gibson Custom Le Grande archtop electric model from 2008, the successor to the classic Johnny Smith model built from 1961 to 1989. The Le Grande made its debut in 1993 and while it hasn’t appeared on Gibson’s website or catalog since around 2010, is still available on special order. The ‘stock’ finish is a Vintage Sunburst, with the Natural finish seen here as an extra-cost option. Always intended for the serious professional guitarist and never in mass production, the Gibson Custom Le Grande features a 17 inch wide body with carved, solid Sitka Spruce top, carved solid and highly figured Maple back and figured maple sides.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS Sunburst, 2013

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS Sunburst, 2013

The Gibson Memphis ES330 VOS model is now discontinued, along with the Memphis plant, but is a great re-creation of a late 1950’s ES-330. Introduced in 1959, the ES-330 took visual cues from the new and very successful ES-335, but is uses a fully hollow body without a solid center block. A pair of under-wound P-90s provide great tone. Until about 1963, the ES330 and its cousin the Epiphone Casino set the neck joint at the 16th fret but subsequently the joint was shifted to the 19th fret, allowing easier access to higher frets.

⚌Reduced‼ Gibson Les Paul Recording Model Natural, 1972

⚌Reduced‼ Gibson Les Paul Recording Model Natural, 1972

Built from 1971 to 1979, the Gibson Les Paul Recording model sported the features most desired by Les Paul himself, but unfortunately this did not translate into sales success. Still, even this low selling model was copied by Japanese builders during the ‘Lawsuit Era’. Constructed during the Norlin years with strong references to the original Les Paul Custom models, the Gibson Les Paul Recording model featured a Mahogany body with carved Mahogany top – unlike the Gold Top and Standard models, which had Maple caps on a Mahogany slab. At this point, Gibson was using what’s come to be called ‘Pancake’ bodies, with at least two narrower layers of Mahogany.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES335 Dot Thinline Heritage Cherry, 2012

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES335 Dot Thinline Heritage Cherry, 2012

The Gibson ES335 Dot reissue draws from the groundbreaking 1958 ES-335 that blended archtop and solidbody guitar styles. Gaining immediate acceptance by players in many genres, this model has been in production continuously since its introduction. Here we’re looking at what looks like a ‘Plain Top’ version of the Gibson ES335 Dot, built at the now-closed Gibson Memphis plant and dating to June 7, 2012. In terms of construction and hardware, these are identical to the much more expensive ‘Figured Top’ models; the difference is the figuring on the Maple laminates used for the top, sides and back.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Tribute Gold Top, 2018

The Gibson Les Paul Tribute Gold Top uses the same design concepts as the higher-priced models but with simpler appointments, particularly no body or neck binding and a thinner finish.
