Here is a rarity – from 1956, a Gretsch 6193 Country Club in natural finish, with an added vintage Bigsby B6 and aluminum bridge set. The 6193 Country Club was introduced in 1954 as the top of the Gretsch line, but had previously appeared in 1951 as the Electro II Cutaway. The 6193 model number indicates the natural ‘blonde’ finish; the 6192 was sunburst and the 6196 Cadillac Green. This Gretsch 6193 is not in fully original condition, as the original G-cutout tailpiece and Melita bridge were removed long ago to make way for the Bigsby B6 set. The Bigsby’s string bar features thread-in string pins, used on 1950’s and early 1960’s models.
Natural Finish
Here’s a Fender 72 Reissue Stratocaster in Natural finish, built during 1994 for Fender Japan by Fuji-Gen at Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture. This is not a Squier model, but a Fender branded Strat intended for sale in the Japanese market. Fender Japan began in 1982 as a joint venture between Fender (then under CBS ownership), Yamano Gakki (distributor of Fender and Gibson products) and Kanda Shokai (another prominent Japanese distributor) and lasted until 2015.

MORE →The Eastman MD904D Two Point oval hole mandolin follows the modified A Style or ‘teardrop’ pioneered by Orville Gibson around 1900. This model perhaps most resembles the Gibson A5 two point, built from 1957 to 1979. As an oval hole model, it will have a somewhat warmer tone compared to the percussive ‘chop’ of an F-hole model. Featuring a solid, carved Sitka Spruce top paired with carved, solid Flame Maple back, with matching Flamed Maple for the sides and neck and binding, and with gold plated hardware, this Eastman MD904D Two Point was built during 2010 near Beijing and is in good shape with minor wear.

MORE →For most of the time since its 1954 introduction, the Fender Stratocaster has been very popular and has been available in a myriad of colours, though natural has not always been one of them. The first versions were often sunburst or translucent white, but automotive based colour schemes followed quickly.
