New for 2020, the National Raw Brass 12 Fret sports a new lightly ‘distressed’ finish and still delivers the warm, rich unmistakable National sound. Also available in a 14-fret model and Raw Steel finish. The National Raw Brass Resophonic guitar is built like other models with steel bodies and single 9.5 inch resonator cone, but is visually distinct with its retro ‘Chickenfoot’ style cover plate and new finish. This finish can ‘work’ a bit better than the highly polished and reflective surface on the more expensive models, meaning that it won’t show smudges as easily.

In 1968, the Fender Red Paisley Telecaster appeared, used by one of the hottest players on one of the hottest stages – James Burton and Elvis Presley! Also available in a ‘Blue Flower’ finish – the same idea, but with flowers and a blue tint, these finished did not last long in the Fender catalog. These models have been reissued from time to time, and in 1994 and 1995 the Fender Red Paisley Telecaster was built for Fender Japan by Fuji-Gen Gakki in Matsumoto, Nagano Japan.

MORE →The Taylor Solidbody Standard was built from 2008 until the line was discontinued in 2014, and for two years featured a Sapele body with a lovely Tamo Ash top. Over the course of its production, Taylor offered three models – the Classic, Standard and Custom, in single and double cutaway versions. While called a solidbody, the Taylor Solidbody Standard is actually chambered. For 2008 and 2008, the body is Sapele with a Tamo Ash veneer top, Mahogany for the neck and Ebony for the fingerboard head plate and truss rod cover. For hardware, standard Taylor branded sealed tuners are at the head, a pair of Taylor Style 1 humbucking pickups with a 5-way pickup selector, and Master Volume and Tone controls.

MORE →The Rickenbacker 360 Jetglo finish is a gloss black treatment on a Maple body and neck. The original design for the 300 series guitars builds the body from two sections of Maple. The top cap is given an external shape, then the interior is routed out from the back to create a hollow cavity. After bracing and shaping, a flat Maple back is put on and on some models, the join is bound (there is no binding on the 330). This is why 360 body binding tends to be on the sound holes and back, only.
