❌SOLD❌ Rickenbacker 4003 Bass Natural Refinish, 1982

Introduced in 1979 as an update to the 4001 model, the Rickenbacker 4003 Bass and its sisters have been a distinctive alternative to the ‘ordinary’ basses available. Here we are looking at a great deal on a Rickenbacker 4003 Bass, built during November of 1982 at the Rick plant in Santa Ana, California. It has been refinished in Natural, and the new finish has a fair amount of wear. During the refinish process, the top contours were rounded slightly, which probably makes the bass a bit more comfortable to play.

❌SOLD❌ Fender Jazz Bass Refinished Sunburst, 1966

The Fender Jazz Bass appeared in 1960, at a time when Fender dominated the electric guitar and bass market, but needed to introduce new models. The Jazz Bass Intended as a Deluxe instrument with a very different sound, look and feel from the Precision Bass, which had in a few years become a standard. However, the P-Bass was not fully accepted by Jazz players, and Fender wanted to expand their market to include them.

❌SOLD❌ Fender Telecaster Blonde Refinish, 1964

❌SOLD❌ Fender Telecaster Blonde Refinish, 1964

This Fender Telecaster Blonde Refinish dates largely to 1964, with a 1966 neck pickup and a newer pickguard of the correct white/black/white layering. Long ago, the body was stripped and refinished blonde.   The neck has some lacquer sprayed over the original finish, but this is quite worn and much of the wood is exposed – which makes it very comfortable.  The original decal is in good condition; at the time, Fender applied the decals over the lacquer finish, and many have not worn well.

Overall, this design shares several elements of the Jazzmaster / Jaguar trem bridge.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson L-7 Archtop Acoustic Guitar Sunburst Refinish, 1947

❌SOLD❌ Gibson L-7 Archtop Acoustic Guitar Sunburst Refinish, 1947

Like its more expensive sibling, the Gibson L-7 used a carved Spruce top, carved Maple back, with a Maple neck and Mahogany neck. The L-7 used Rosewood for the fingerboard and bridge. At the time this 1947 L-7 was built and into the 1950’s, ‘Rosewood’ meant ‘Brazilian Rosewood’. At this point, the inlays were the double-parallelogram design, still found on many models. The body is a full 17 inches across – it is a big guitar – but the scale length is standard Gibson 24.75 inches.

❌ SOLD ❌ Fender Precision Bass Black Refinish, 1959

❌ SOLD ❌ Fender Precision Bass Black Refinish, 1959

This vintage Fender Precision Bass built during 1959. It’s been used as intended and has played countless shows around Ontario, Canada – attested to by the stickers on the original tweed case. Somewhere in the dim and distant past, the alder body’s original finish was removed and a black finish was applied. The refinish itself has an amount of honest play wear. The neck is the standard one-piece Maple Fender design, and its finish is original, with the smooth wear and patina that only comes from decades of use.
