Here we are looking at a real rarity – a DeLap JRocker HH Headless model with trem, built during 1997 in Monterey, California and sporting a very well done metallic emerald green finish. The DeLap JRocker is a headless guitar taking cues from the highly innovative Ned Steinberger design, and using the JCustom XS trem bridge and string retainer set.
Steinberger
NS Designs, founded by Ned Steinberger, develops innovative instruments like the Steinberger NS CR5 Electric Cello – in 4,5, and 6 string versions, extending the possibilities of acoustic instruments previously used only in concert halls.Previously we’ve reviewed an NS CR Series ‘Upright Bass’, and unsurprisingly there are a number of similarities between that and the CR5 Electric Cello. The construction style is almost identical, with a compact Rock Maple body and set Maple neck, with a traditional hand-graduated Ebony fingerboard.

MORE →Here we have a Steinberger XL2 Headless Fretted Bass, dating to 1984 and built at the Steinberger shop in Newburgh, New York. It uses the unmistakable headless design based on the L2 and is made of graphite reinforced epoxy with some plastic components (the top). The pickups are by EMG. It is in overall very good, original condition though – as is common with these instruments – the plug-in leg rest is missing. Fret wear is minor and it’s very comfortable to play, with a tight focused tone even acoustically.
Ned Steinberger came from a fine arts background, focusing on sculpture, to create highly influential instruments, particularly the headless guitar and bass.

MORE →This new Gibson Firebird T Vintage Sunburst – The Twelfth Fret is one of the best renditions of the model that I’ve seen, with great build quality and changes to the hardware that improve the instrument as a whole.
The very first versions of the Firebird appeared in 1963 and used a neck-through-body design. In this design, the neck was one piece of wood extending the full length of the instrument.

MORE →This 1982 Steinberger L2 Fretless Bass, number 466, is in great condition, with all the parts. As a fretless, it is not a conversion, but a factory fretless model. It has two EMG active pickups and four controls. It uses double ball end strings, and features the breakthrough bridge and tuner tailpiece.
