❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Broadkaster Jr Player’s Edition Center Block Cadillac Green, 2017

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Broadkaster Jr Player's Edition Center Block Cadillac Green, 2017

The Gretsch Broadkaster Jr revives one of Gretsch’s older model names, previously used on a drum kit and the reason the Fender Telecaster has its current name. It is unlike many of Gretsch’s traditional models, featuring a compact body, though larger than a Jet, and with a solid center block for feedback rejection and sustain. Not just a reworking of an older model, the Gretsch Broadkaster Jr is both a new design and a seriously good guitar, ready for use in a professional context.

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Tennessee Rose G6119FT Thin Body Archtop Walnut, 2006

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Tennessee Rose G6119FT Thin Body Archtop Walnut, 2006

Based on the 1962 Chet Atkins Tennessean, the Gretsch Tennessee Rose G6119 was introduced in 1995, but wasn’t a ‘Chet Atkins’ model until 2007 when Gretsch re-acquired rights to the Atkins name. Consequently, the pickguard on this example has only the words ‘Tennessee Rose’ and the Gretsch logo. The 6119 Tennessean appeared in 1958 as a full size, single pickup archtop. In 1962, it was drastically revised with a new, thin body using the sealed ‘ElectroTone’ concept for feedback resistance. This design has faux F-holes, either painted or decals. It bore a pair of either Filter ‘Tron or HiLo ‘Tron pickups and the model was discontinued in 1980. Gretsch, then owned by Baldwin, folded in 1983 with Baldwin’s bankruptcy.

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Sparkle Jet G6129T with Bigsby Silver Sparkle, 2007

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch Sparkle Jet G6129T with Bigsby Silver Sparkle, 2007

Guitar makers and players sometimes don’t want to go for an understated approach, and the Gretsch Sparkle Jet G6129T is a case in point. Featuring a wildly metallic sparkle layer on top of chambered, single cut Mahogany body with Maple laminate top, the Sparkle Jet is anything but subtle. The Gretsch Jet models were introduced in 1955 as a response to the Gibson Les Paul. At the time, Gretsch was resistant to solidbody designs and so the Jet is heavily chambered. The Mahogany back has spaces routed into it, and a Maple laminate top is applied.

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch G6120DSW TV Jones T-Armonds, Orange 2014

The Gretsch G6120DSW TV replicates the 1955 and 1956 6120 models, with a lot of typical Gretsch Western motif trim and Western Orange Stain lacquer finish. The very first Gretsch 6120 models were derived from a special order 1954 Streamliner Special, and presented to Chet Atkins as a potential signature model. This guitar featured a 16 inch single cutaway Maple laminate hollow body, and a second DeArmond DynaSonic bridge pickup as the Streamliner had only one pickup

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch G6199 Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Red, 2006

❌SOLD❌ Gretsch G6199 Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Red, 2006

Here’s a rare beast – a Gretsch G6199 Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird in Firebird Red, based on Bo Diddley’s custom built 1959 Gretsch Jupiter Thunderbird! This model, which is produced in small quantities, has an interesting history. By 1959, Bo Diddley was a major star, with an energetic stage show. Bo was so energetic that he found regular guitars, like his L5, restricted his motion. So, he built his own guitars with trapezoidal or rectangular shapes, and these have a strong visual association with Bo Diddley.
