Comments This is a rare 1932 Martin OM-18 Sunburst. During 1932, the C. F. Martin guitar company produced 3,000 instruments in total.

The OM-18 features the Orchestra Model body, with a tighter waist and slightly narrower bouts than the Dreadnought design. It’s also sometimes known as the 000 size. As an 18 model, it is made from mahogany with a spruce top and bracing. It has been serviced, with a neck reset performed in our shop some years ago.

Serial Number 51839, built during 1932 at the C. F. Martin plant in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
Neck Mahogany neck with unbound ebony fingerboard. Small mother of pearl position markers. The neck was reset some years ago in our shop, so the angle is good and the neck is quite straight.
Frets This instrument has original style ‘bar’ frets.
Body Classic Martin OM size body, with the 18 level appointments; mahogany back and sides, spruce top, black binding on the back and top with a black-white layer on the top. Original faux-tortoise pickguard, ebony bridge.
Finish Original gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish in decent shape; as expected for an instrument of this age trheer is pick wear, dents and scratches, and also one drip of what looks to be a creme latex paint on the back.
Hardware/electronics Original tuners. Bone saddle and ebony nut.
Playability/Action This instrument was reset in the past in our shop. The neck is quite straight and the guitar plays well.
Case Original case is included.
