Many banjos are aimed towards Bluegrass players, but the Stelling Swallowtail points to one of the other main banjo styles – Celtic music.
Geoff Stelling designed the Stelling Swallowtail 5-string banjo with the noted Irish musician Tom Hanway. It features the swallow, closed celtic knot, oak and acorn motif inlays, based on Celtic and Druidic traditional images. The banjo itself uses curly maple for the neck and resonator, with a very nicely shaded cremona brown finish.
Built during 2004 at Geoff Stelling’s workshop in Afton, Virginia, this banjo is in great condition with the original hardshell case.
