Initially, Alhambra custom-made a small number of “crossover” nylon strung guitars at our request, specifically for our store. These models have included the Alhambra Cross Over CS-1 CT E2. We have a lot of studio and jazz players who need that nylon string tonality for Latin music recording projects and live performance applications, but feel uncomfortable with the regular two inch wide nut and flat fingerboard typically found on classical guitars. The CS1 is very similar to the CS-3, but features Mahogany back and sides and radiused Rosewood fingerboard. Both have available Red Western Cedar or German Spruce tops. The choice of Red Western Cedar or German Spruce for the top is up to the player. Both provide an excellent sound and will open and develop with use – the more you play the guitar, the better it sounds. Red Cedar develops more rapidly into a warm, rich tone, while Spruce provides added brilliance and top end, with a faster response. |
Neck | Mahogany neck with raidused rosewood fingerboard. Treble side of neck heel extends to 13th fret for easy access. 650 mm scale length and 1 7/8″ wide nut |
Frets | 19 nickel silver frets. |
Body | Slim Mahogany body with Venetian cutaway, red cedar top, maple body binding. |
Hardware/electronics | Fishman Prefix Pro Blend mic/pickup/preamp system, gold tuners with pearloid buttons. |
Playability/Action | As with all Alhambra instruments, the Alhambra Cross Over CS-1 CT E2 plays very well as delivered and we will of course set up the guitar to the player’s requirements. |
