Presented as ‘The Ultimate Signature Guitar,’ this autographed Gibson ES-335 Dot, conceived in 1991, boasts a striking Alpine White finish adorned with signatures from renowned guitarists.
Originally donated by Gibson, this guitar became a centerpiece for a signature collection themed around the ‘Most Important Guitarists of the Last 10 Years,’ as chosen by readers of GUITAR Magazine in 1993.
These initiatives culminated in a charitable silent auction at the 1995 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California, dedicated to supporting Cancer and AIDS Research.
This Autographed Gibson ES-335 Dot guitar subsequently appeared at auction in Toronto, Canada during April, 1998.
The guitar itself is a stock Gibson ES-335 Dot with Alpine White finish dating to October 18 of 1991 at Memphis, Tennessee. Donated by Gypsy Karns of Gibson to the T.J. Martell Foundation. It is in very good, original condition (aside from the autographs). The finish tint has naturally yellowed over the decades, with some lacquer checking on the back. The pickguard has some light finger brush marks on it, possibly from being played as it was being signed.
