The Twelfth Fret ~ Since 1977 ~

❌SOLD❌ C F Martin D-28V Brazilian Rosewood, 1984

Brand:

Instrument Categories: , ,

The C F Martin D-28V was built as a limited edition vintage reproduction, using Brazilian Rosewood for the sides and back, between 1983 and 1985. This was the first of the Brazilian ‘V’ series guitars, introduced for Martin’s 150th anniversary.

This D-28V example dates to 1984, in the middle of the production, and is in overall good, original condition. It pairs a Sitka Spruce top with Brazilian Rosewood for the sides, back, and headplate; the V-profile neck is Mahogany with an unbound Ebony fingerboard and Ebony bridge. As was the case with pre-1947 Martins, Herringbone purfling is installed around the top. Martin stopped using it in 1947 because they ran out, and as their supplier had been in Germany and was adversely affected by the war, could not resupply.

This  C F Martin D-28V has been played, but cared for. The lacquer finish, featuring a lightly amber tinted top, is naturally sinking into the wood pores, and there are a few small dings from honest usage. Fretwear is light to moderate.

It’s currently set up with the action at 4.5/64ths inch on the treble side, and 6/64ths on the bass. The original hard shell case is included.

As mentioned, this guitar has been played, and it sounds like it. It has a fully developed, open rich, warm yet brilliant voice.
