SOLD!! Cervantes Rodriguez Palo Escrito Studio Series, 2015

This Cervantes Rodriguez PE from the Studio Series is built with Palo Escrito for the sides, back and headplate. Solid Red Cedar is used for the top and Spanish Cedar for the neck and an ebony fingerboard.

This is a superb, handmade guitar built and fan-braced in the traditional style of Manual Rodriguez II, with a smooth and balanced tone. This example was built during 2015 and features 20:1 ratio, premier grade Gotoh tuners, a 12 hole tie block bridge and a compensated nut and saddle for improved intonation and side dots at frets 5, 7, and 9.

The action is currently at 6.5/64 treble and 8/64 bass, which is the low end of normal classical action. Lots of remaining saddle is exposed so there is plenty of scope for going even lower should the player desire this.

This guitar is in very good condition with only one tiny blemish at the bridge from a previously broken string that has been touched up.

The Cervantes Rodriguez PE is built in the traditional style after the work of Manuel Rodriguez II, who worked in Madrid, in his own shop and in the shop of Jose Ramirez II. His descendants are still building today.

While Cervantes guitars are very traditional in their approach, they have a subtle but rather meaningful improvement – the fretwire used is higher, wider and harder than what is typically used on classical guitars. There are two main practical effects from this change. First, the frets will take longer to wear out, and second, the slight increase in mass adds to the clarity of the tone and sustain of the note with less effort required from the player.

Additionally, the Cervantes Rodriguez PE sports another almost invisible, but certainly audible improvement – the nut and saddle are compensated to improve intonation throughout the fingerboard. The Gotoh tuners are very smooth, and tuning is quick and easy.

The Cervantes Palo Escito was built during 2015 and is very well put together and very good sounding, with rich, full tone, plenty of volume and are highly responsive.
