Presented here is the exquisite Collings SoCo Deluxe boasting a mesmerizing Quilted Top adorned with a stunning Burst finish. Crafted in 2010 as a special edition for the NAMM Show, this instrument stands as a pinnacle of artisanal excellence.
The SoCo Deluxe pairs a solid, carved Quilted Maple top with Mahogany for the sides, back, body blocks and neck. The fingerboard is Indian Rosewood, and both the distinctive ‘haircut’ style headstock and fingerboard are bound. Position markers are Mother of Pearl. This is a ‘thinline’ design, using a hollow body with a solid center Maple block for feedback resistance and sustain. This innovative concept was introduced by Gibson with the 1958 ES-335.
For hardware, Collings installs Sperzel tuners with ivoroid keystone style buttons, TonePros ABR style bridge and matching stop tailpiece. The electronics include Lollar humbuckers, a three-way pickup selector and individual volume and tone controls.
This Collings SoCo Deluxe example is in overall good condition, showing wear consistent with being used as intended. The top shows an amount of pick wear, and there is light fretwear. It plays well, and sounds great.
Collings build and finish quality are about as good as is possible in production guitars, and this is a real treat to play.
The original Collings branded hard shell case by Ameritage is included and contains the Collings certificates.
