This de Jonge Standard Spruce and Sapele Steel String guitar with natural French Polish finish is dated to 2021. A lovely, new older stock de Jonge Standard steel string features a Sitka Spruce top with with Sapele (Entandrophragma cylindricum) for the rosette, sides, back and head plate. The body blocks and neck are Mahogany, with Ebony for the bridge and bound fingerboard. There’s a  K&K Pure Mini three-element passive pickup set is mounted to the Maple bridge plate. The nut and saddle are bone and the tuners are sealed models with black buttons and gold coloring.

The frets themselves are Jescar Evo Gold. These are fairly hard frets, halfway between standard ‘Nickel Silver’ and Stainless Steel fret wires.

Sergei de Jonge has been a fixture on the Canadian guitar building scene for decades, beginning with work at Jean Larrivee’s original Toronto shop in early 1970. Since then he has had a number of shops and now works with his family at their property in Chelsea, Quebec where he builds and runs regular courses instrument building and French Polish finishing.
