Eastman DM1 Gypsy Jazz Style Guitar Classic Finish

Brand:

Instrument Categories: ,

The Eastman DM1 Gypsy Jazz Style model demonstrates that acoustic guitars do not only follow the pattern of American designs, particularly Martin and Gibson. In the early 1930’s the Selmer company partnered with an Italian luthier named Mario Maccaferri and began producing guitars of his design. As with the National Resophonic guitar, the goal of the Maccaferri design was to deliver increased volume so guitars could keep up in bands that included banjos, brass and horns. These models were quickly adopted by European guitarists, in particular Django Reinhardt, a major force in the Gypsy Jazz style. Reinhardt had and still has a profound influence on guitarists.

Here we’re looking at a brand new Eastman DM1 Gypsy Jazz style guitar, in the ‘Petite Bouche’ or small soundhole style. This is a long scale instrument at 26.38 inches or 670mm, almost an inch longer than a typical Martin, and is a fairly large guitar. Construction features a solid Sitka Spruce top with layered Indian for the back and sides. The neck is Maple with a zero-fret, long scale Ebony fingerboard. The traditional ‘Moustache’ style bridge is Rosewood.

The Eastman DM1 Gypsy Jazz guitar is sold with its original hard shell case.
