Instrument Categories: , , , ,

The Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5 bass dates to 1987 and has been a straightforward, reliable and versatile standard for 5-string basses since.

Here we’re seeing a relatively unusual Left Handed version of the Stingray 5 bass. It dates to June 12th, 2009 at San Luis Obispo California, so it’s a Gemini with Leo ascendant and the moon in Aquarius.

This solidly built Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5 bass uses Ash for the body paired with a Maple neck. The body features a natural gloss finish, which extends to the headstock while a gun-oil finish is on the playing surface and back of the neck. This makes for a very comfortable, non-stick but not too slippery surface. Helpfully, the neck has six bolts at the joint, and carries Ernie Ball Music Man’s patented compensated nut for more accurate intonation and tuning. It is a single pickup model with active circuitry for the 3 band EQ active preamp. There’s a battery compartment on the back of the bass so it’s very easy to change batteries – no need to carry a toolkit! Hardware is chrome plated with black pickup cover and pickguard.

This Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5 bass is in good overall condition, with very light fret and finish wear,  and includes the original Music Man hard shell case.

From the current Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray 5 Bass page:

“The first bass designed by Ernie Ball Music Man, the Stingray 5 was unveiled in 1987 and has been an industry standard for extended range basses ever since. With its powerful punchy sound, the added flexibility of additional pickups and a comfortably contoured body the StingRay 5 satisfies even the most demanding of players. “
