❌SOLD❌ Fender 1956 Relic Roasted Stratocaster #140 Lake Placid Blue, 2016

Instrument Categories: , ,

This guitar is a limited edition available at the 2017 NAMM show – a Fender 1956 Relic Roasted Stratocaster in Aged Lake Placid Blue. On the Certificate of Authenticity, it’s identified as the “Ltd 56 Stratocaster Relic®” , and the Custom Shop card identifies it as #140 of the 30th Anniversary run.

This guitar features what Fender calls a Relic treatment on a nitrocellulose lacquer finish with Closet Classic hardware and a Roasted Alder body. The neck is Roasted Bird’s-eye Maple, with a 10/56 V profile, and Dunlop 6015 fretwire – tall but narrow on a 9.5 inch (241mm) radius fingerboard. The nut is bone.

The pickguard and backplate are Anodized aluminum, as found on some models from 1957 and 1958. The pickups are hand-wound Fat 60’s with an RWRP middle for hum cancellation in switch positions 2 and 4. The wiring is referred to as “Postmodern Strat 50’s Hookup Wiring with Greasebucket Tone Control for Bridge Pickup”.

It’s always a bit of a puzzle how to describe guitars with ‘Relic’ treatments, since as new, they’re intended to look quite worn and used. Here, there’s no appreciable fret wear but the fingerboard finish is worn to simulate years of play in the lower positions. The anodized pickguard is slightly worn to simulate the wear from fingers resting on it.

This Fender 1956 Relic Roasted Stratocaster is sold with its original Custom Shop tweed hard shell case, and includes the Certificate of Authenticity, Custom Shop card, and the original, unopened case candy bag.
