❌SOLD❌Fender 51 Telecaster PJ Parallel Universe Bass Blonde, 2018

Here is a Fender 51 Telecaster PJ Parallel Universe Bass built in 2018, featuring a slab body with blonde finish and a Precision-Jazz or PJ pickup set!   Though now out of production, this is a new bass that still has its protective plastic on the tuner buttons and pickguard.

When Leo Fender introduced his first bass in 1951 with the slab body and Telecaster style headstock seen here, it was named the Precision Bass. At that time, virtually all basses were both acoustic and fretless and this often led to inconsistencies in pitch. The addition of frets meant pitch precision, and in short order the Fender Precision bass had displaced acoustic fretless instruments in most genres.

For 1954, the Precision Bass was reworked with a new contoured body (also found on the freshly launched Stratocaster), larger headstock, and split humbucking pickup. The Telecaster Bass, named as such and with the look of the 1951 Precision Bass, was introduced in 1968 and built until 1979.

For 2018, Fender launched the ‘Parallel Universe’ line, modifying a number of popular designs and mixing hardware. The Fender 51 Telecaster PJ Parallel Universe Bass merges the 1951 Precision body and neck with the popular and versatile PJ set – a Precision Bass split humbucker in its usual position and a Jazz Bass bridge pickup. These are controlled with a concentric volume pot, with one control for each pickup and a Master tone control. A high-mass vintage bridge with plated brass saddles provides more sustain and tonal separation than the original bridge.

Like the 51 Precision Bass, the Fender 51 Telecaster PJ uses an Ash body with a translucent blonde finish and a one-piece Maple neck with walnut ‘Skunk Stripe’. This model was built for only a short time and in limited numbers.

The 51 Telecaster PJ Parallel Universe Bass is sold with its original, new molded TSA approved hard shell case and its certificate of authenticity.
