Here’s something special that we don’t see every day – a Fender American Nashville B-Bender Telecaster®, factory stock with the Parsons-Green B Bender!

Originally designed by Gene Parsons and Clarence White in 1968, the B-Bender installs to a significantly modified Telecaster body. A large amount of wood is removed from the back of the body to accommodate a set of levers, springs and linkages from the upper strap pin to a roller behind the B string saddle. When the player presses down on the neck, the lever moves and the B string is pulled sharp. The amount of pitch rise is set by a roller on the back plate.

This fascinating device is detailed at Gene Parson’s ‘Stringbender’ website.

Built in Corona California with a date of January 2009, this guitar is in overall good condition with some play wear to the finish. You’ll notice some buildup around the saddles – this comes from the recommended use of small amounts of light oil on the saddles. It plays very well, and to my hands the rolled-fingerboard necks from this period are the most comfortable – not too chunky but enough size to get a good grip.

A black hardshell non-original case is included.

Here’s what the builder says about the Fender American Nashville B-Bender Telecaster:

“Our Fender American Nashville B-Bender Telecaster® guitar was inspired by the customized instruments of top Nashville players, and produces those plaintive country bends and spine-tingling steel guitar glissandos. This model features a Texas Special™ Strat pickup in the middle position, five-way Strat-o-Tele switching, and the B-Bender string bending system, which puts those beguiling pedal steel licks right at your fingertips.”
