❌SOLD❌Fender Highway One HH Conversion Strat Red, 2002

This early Fender Highway One HH Stratocaster in Crimson Red Transparent finish is a conversion from its original SSS configuration to HH, a popular and practical mod.

The Highway One series was built from 2002 to 2010 as Made In USA model, but at a lower price than the American Deluxe series models. This was partly done by using a much thinner lacquer finish than the heavier Polys on the higher models — but many players want the increased rate of wear from the lighter finish! The Highway One line was superseded by the American Special line.

Here we’re looking at a Fender Highway One HH Stratocaster built during 2002, converted to an HH pickup configuration. The Highway One body as stock was routed for SSH, so the neck pickup cavity has been enlarged, and a new HH pickguard installed with a 3-way switch and pots appropriate for the new Seymour Duncan Jazz (at the neck) and JB (bridge) pickups. The bridge is set to ‘decked’, simply by adding springs or tightening the claw. The body is Alder with the light Crimson Red Transparent finish, still in good condition with light wear. The neck is Maple with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard and a very comfortable profile. Fret wear is light.

Sold with its original faux-snakeskin hard shell case. The original pickups are included, but the SSS pickguard is not.

When launched, this was part of the Fender Highway One promo texts:

“Highway One Series guitars give you everything you need, nothing you don’t! Their special low-gloss, satin lacquer finish allows the wood to “breathe” better, providing a warm, full tone with added sustain and clarity. Not unlike rare vintage instruments, Highway One Series guitars’ neck finish feels immediately smooth and comfortable, like your favorite worn baseball glove. All that, and they look great too! Handmade in Corona, Calif.

The Highway One Stratocaster is highlighted with its own unique Highway One finish — a high resonance, low gloss, satin lacquer topcoat that lets the tone ring out of the alder body and sustain for days. The Highway One Stratocaster guitar features three classic single-coil pickups with a synchronized tremolo and is available with a maple or rosewood fingerboard.”
