Here is a Fender Jazz Bass American Original 60’s in an Olympic White Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish like the 60’s originals, and in great shape.

Fender introduced the Jazz Bass in 1960 as the ‘Deluxe’ but quickly changed the name to the ‘Jazz Bass’. The aim was to target a group who hadn’t fully moved away from acoustic instruments – jazz players, with a narrower neck and tighter, more focused pickup response. As part of this effort the Jazz bass carried Fender’s new Rosewood fingerboard. This was originally in flat-bottomed ‘Slab’ form until tooling was developed to wrap a thinner Rosewood section over the curved neck blank.

This Fender Jazz Bass American Original 60’s model features an Alder body and Maple neck with a curved-bottom Rosewood fingerboard. While this bass takes many cues from the originals, it isn’t a fully ‘vintage’ reproduction; there are no mutes or metal bridge and pickup covers. This bass also uses the late 1961 control configuration of individual volume controls and a master tone; the 1960 models had stacked, concentric pots providing individual volume and tone controls.

Having only a couple of minor edge dents in the lacquer finish, this Fender Jazz Bass American Original is in very good condition. Fret wear is light and the bass plays well and cleanly.

The original, vintage style Fender branded case by G&G is included, and is also in very clean condition.

More From The Builder On The Fender Jazz Bass American Original 60’s:

“Released in 1960, the upscale Jazz Bass quickly found favor among working bassists thanks to its premium appointments and versatile sound. The narrower neck seemed tailor-made for fast, dexterous playing, while the pair of single-coil pickups added a bold new dimension to Fender bass tone. The American Original ‘60s Jazz Bass has all the tone and style of its earliest incarnation, with modern playability.”
