❌SOLD❌ Fender Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Stratocaster Sunburst, 1996

Brand:

Instrument Categories: , , ,

Introduced in 1997 as part of a Signature Series, the Fender Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat is still built in Ensenada, Mexico. Jimmy Vaughn is of course Stevie Ray’s older brother, and from 1974 to 1990 played in The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Based on a later 1950’s Stratocaster, the Fender Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat uses an Alder body paired with a one-piece Maple neck. The Fender logo is the late 50’s Spaghetti style, with the Jimmy Vaughn signature and serial number / Country of Origin decals on the back of the head. The pickguard is the 50’s single layer, loaded with a set of Fender Texas Special pickups and a 5-way switch.

This guitar is entirely stock and has only the lightest wear. The finish is a very 1950’s style two-tone sunburst; many of the Jimmy Vaughn examples have an Olympic White finish.

This Fender Jimmy Vaughn Tex-Mex Strat is sold with its original black Fender gig bag, which contains the trem arm and a 1994 Fender guitar and bass spec booklet.

For this series of Mexican signature guitars, the serial numbers do not map directly to dates, even with the MSN6 prefix, which would normally expand to “Mexico Signature Ninety Six”. This model was launched in early 1997, and this example would have been built during late 1996 as one of the early models.
