❌SOLD❌ Fender Precision Bass Sunburst, 1974

Introduced in 1951 and still in production with relatively minor changes, the Fender Precision Bass is an example of a designer getting everything right. Immediately, it almost completely displacing the upright bass it was intended to challenge, and it has become one of the most-used and most-recorded instruments in history. It’s not too much of a stretch to say that the Precision Bass altered the way that music is presented particularly in large venues at high volumes.

Here we’re looking at a nicely preserved Fender Precision Bass in Sunburst with Maple neck, built during 1974 in Fullerton, California during CBS ownership. The body is Alder, the neck is a single piece of Maple with a walnut ‘Skunk Stripe’ covering the rear-mounted truss rod channel. The sunburst body finish is poly and in good condition with average wear and chipping around the edges, while the neck finish is in good clean condition. Fret wear is light, and the bass plays well with good action.

At thumb rest has been added to the pickguard on the bass side – when installed as stock, these were normally on the treble side as a finger rest. The bridge cover is installed, though the pickup cover is long gone.

A modern Fender tweed hard shell case is included.
