One of a total of 200 built during 2010 and in great shape, this Gibson 50th Anniversary 1960 Hummingbird sports the Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish.
The Hummingbird was introduced in 1960 as next to top of the line after the J-200. Gibson dreadnoughts were mostly round-shouldered, but the Hummingbird used the square-shoulder, Martin style body. It was an immediate hit with players of all styles, and has retained its popularity.
The Gibson 50th Anniversary 1960 Hummingbird is based closely on the original release. It is an all acoustic instrument with no pickups or electronics, and features a Sitka Spruce top paired with Mahogany for the sides, back, neck and body blocks. The bridge and bound fingerboard are Indian Rosewood. The inlay set uses Mother of Pearl for the original double-parallelogram position markers, Gibson logo and ’50’ headstock inlay. The engraved truss rod cover reads ’50th Anniversary’. The tuners are gold-plated Kluson style models with keystone buttons. And of course, this is a Hummingbird so it has the hand-painted pickguard.
Overall this guitar is in very good, clean condition. There are a few small pressure marks around the edges. Fret wear is very light and there is plenty of saddle above the bridge, allowing a wide range of action adjustment.
The original hard shell case is included, and contains the Certificate of Authenticity and QC checklist.
