Launched in 2016, the Gibson Eric Church Hummingbird Dark is based on the classic square-shouldered Hummingbird model. The Hummingbird has long been a favourite for singer-songwriters and has appeared on countless stages and recordings. Currently, this model is listed with Eric Church started writing songs at age 13 and has been performing as a Country artist since high school. He’s had a string of albums and hits, and has performed at the Opry several times, first in 2006.
Starting from the base Hummingbird design – a square shouldered Dreadnought body with a Sitka Spruce top paired with Mahogany for the sides, back, body blocks and neck, and Indian Rosewood for the bridge and bound 24.75 inch scale length fingerboard – the Gibson Eric Church Hummingbird Dark adds a dark stain directly to the Spruce top, and darker shading around the edges. The rest of the body gets an almost opaque dark tint. The position markers are the classic dual parallelograms, but in Black mother of Pearl. For hardware, nickel-plated Grover Roto-Matic tuners are at the head.
Dating to February 19 2018 and built in beautiful Bozeman Montana, this Gibson Eric Church Hummingbird Dark is in overall good condition with a few light marks and some wear to the painted pickguard designs. It has its original L R Baggs undersaddle pickup, plus an added DiMarzio Dark Angel soundhole pickup; the endpin jack is wired to allow blending the two pickups via an (included) stereo cable.
This guitar plays well, and has that warm, rich Gibson acoustic sound that works so well with vocals. The 24.75 inch scale length makes low position chords an easy reach.
The original Gibson Custom hard shell case is included.
