Instrument Categories: , , ,

The Gibson ES-125 made its debut in 1941 as a student model – an affordable archtop electric, of maple laminate, one pickup and little decoration. Originally fitted with a ‘Blade’ style pickup, by 1947 a standard P90 was used. Production lasted until 1970. In 1956, the new thin body ‘ES-125T’ appeared and was available with two pickups and a cutaway.

The Gibson ES-125 guitars have proven popular as vintage guitars. They work very well for blues and jazz, and have a full, rich tone. The P-90 is a single coil pickup, so it is susceptible to hum, but it sounds great.

This Gibson ES-125 dates to 1961 and was built at the Gibson Kalamazoo plant. It’s in very nice, clean original condition, with the exception of one changed knob. Lacquer checking and finish wear are minor, and at expected levels. Fret wear is light. Currently strung with flat wounds, it plays nicely.

A non-original Epiphone hard shell case is included.
