❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES-339 Thinline Archtop Electric Guitar Ebony 2011

Instrument Categories: , , , ,

The Gibson ES-339 uses a smaller 335 style body that was a hit from its introduction in 1996 as the ES-336. It gives all the tonal richness and versatility of the full-size ES-335, but in a more compact package.

This ES-339 was built at Gibson Memphis Custom Shop in 2011. As a note about the serial numbering – Custom Shop serials don’t follow the rest of the company’s model. At this point the serial used CS plus six digits. The first digit is the year, starting in 2010, and the second digit is the location, with 5 being Memphis. So, this is a 2011 model from Memphis.

This guitar is in all original, very good condition with minimal wear. The ebony black finish is in good shape with just slight hazing and a few small dings – nitrocellulose lacquer is very difficult to keep pristine. The hardware is nickel plated with no appreciable tarnish. Classic ’57 pickups are installed, with the usual Gibson individual volume – tone – pickup selector circuit.

Tuners are Kluson-style with Keystone-style buttons. These units work very smoothly and look good, but also importantly, they are fairly light. This contributes to an even body balance, and the lower mass reduces the potential for damage should the guitar take a tumble.

Fret wear is minimal. The neck is a 30/60 profile, and is quite comfortable. I’m very much enjoying playing it. The smaller body size sits well and in any kind of a confined space doesn’t really push the boundaries. As well, the bridge seems to be a bit closer to the tailblock, which means that the first fret isn’t such a reach but the full scale length is still there.

The original hard shell case is included.
