Here’s a very nicely figured and very good condition Gibson ESDT335 in Lightburst finish, built during 2004 at the now-closed Gibson Memphis plant.

The Gibson ESDT335 is a slight variation on the standard ES-335, with the ‘ES’ standing as always for ‘Electric Spanish’. ‘Spanish’ refers to how the guitar is held and played, with one of the few other primary designations being ‘EH’ for ‘Electric Hawaiian’. The ‘D’ stands for Dot Neck, and the final ‘T’ apparently for ‘Figured Top’.   This example uses gold-plated hardware, which is relatively unusual as most had nickel plate.

Construction follows the standard 335 pattern, with a solid Maple center block and laminate Maple for top, back and sides. Here, highly figured AAA grade Maple was used. The neck is one piece of Mahogany and the bound, dot-inlay fingerboard is Indian Rosewood. On this Gibson ESDT335, the tuners are gold-plated Grover Roto-Matics with metal keystone buttons and at the other end a traditional ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge is paired with a stop-bar tailpiece. The pickups are the original BurstBuckers.

This Gibson ESDT335 example sports the ‘Lightburst’ finish, rather like a faded ‘Iced Tea’ burst. This visually pairs well with the gold plating. There is very little wear of any kind to any component or finish area other than some light fingermarks on the pickguard. The gold plating is completely intact and fretwear is notable in its absence. It looks as if it’s spent most of its life in its case, but plays well and cleanly as is.

The original Gibson-branded, arched top hard shell case with interior shroud by TKL is included, and is in good condition with no significant tears or damage.
