This Gibson Flying V Reissue was built during 2005 at Nashville, and combines features from at least two major versions of the Flying V.

When introduced in 1958 for its very short production run – 81 that year and 17 in 1959 – the Flying V was built of Korina (a Gibson name for African Limba wood) with a Rosewood fingerboard, and a string-through body with a V-shaped plate on the front. A pair of the newly introduced humbucking pickups were installed, the pickguard did not extend to the bass side, and the output jack was on a circular plate at the end of the lower V. The Gibson logo was mounted on the headstock face. At the 1967 re-introduction, Mahogany was used and a standard stop tailpiece replaced the string-through design. The pickups and output jack were mounted on the pickguard, which extended to the bass side, and the Gibson logo was on the larger white truss rod cover.

This reissue combines elements of both those versions, with the Mahogany body, stop tailpiece, circular output jack plate, original style pickguard and the 1967 truss rod cover with Gibson logo. The tuners are Grover Roto-Matics, and the metal parts are gold plated. It’s in overall very good condition with only light play wear and negligible fret wear. These guitars are one of the lightest available at just over 7 pounds, so it’s easy to wear them for longer periods. As is it plays well and cleanly, and has an unmistakable look.

The original hard shell case is included.
